SPACE ADVENTURE CAMP

  • Registration launches on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. EST.

  • Base Camp Tuition: $1599
    Advanced Camp Tuition: $1699

    Camp tuition covers the following:
    • Camper t-shirt, water bottle, and backpack
    • All meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks)
    • Evening entertainment, including Funland Amusements and Iron Pony Aerial Adventure Course
    • All course equipment and supplies
    • Housing in contemporary, climate-controlled dorms
    • Transportation to all program locations, including behind-the-scene tours and recreational sites

  • Yes. Two payment plan options are available at checkout: two payments (50% due at registration, 50% due February 7) and three payments (40% due at registration; 30% due February 7, 30% due February 28).

  • Yes. We recommend placing the opening date and time on your calendar. We recommend setting up your Jumbula registration account before opening day. This action will save you time during registration. Visit this link to create an account and profile for your camper before opening registration day.

  • Please use the registration system’s waitlist feature once a session is full. When spaces become available, we will contact families in the order that they joined.

  • Campers are housed at the Chincoteague Bay Field Station’s Red Knot Resident Hall at Wallops Island, VA. These contemporary, climate-controlled dorms are suite-style, with a central hallway connected to four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The three camper bedrooms have four twin-size beds, permitting twelve campers per dorm. The remaining bedroom is reserved for two camp counselors.

  • Campers pre-select all meal options before arriving at camp to accommodate their personal preferences and dietary requirements. Daily breakfast and lunch are provided at NASA Wallops Flight Facility’s Launch Pad Cafe. Several different local restaurants cater dinners.

  • Yes. A roommate request form will be provided in the spring for all registered campers. Roommate requests are not guaranteed. We do our best to accommodate. Only one roommate request is permitted per camper.

STEM ACADEMY

  • Those seeking to register for a STEM Academy module should be in the age range specified for each module (at the time of the module); residing in the United States (shipping restrictions); have a reliable internet connection and have access to a computer/tablet.

  • Modules last 5 weeks, with an additional 2 weeks to complete/submit asynchronous work

  • At this time, the only modules being offered during the first half of 2025 are listed on the STEM Academy page. Please email stem@vasfa.org to suggest topics you would like to see covered by the new modules.

  • Live sessions are scheduled once a week, with the possibility of an additional live session one of the weeks. Live session day/time options are listed for each module. During registration, you select your preference.

  • Live sessions are targeted to last one hour. Some live sessions may extend past the hour mark.

  • If you cannot attend a live session, a recorded version of the live session will be posted to Google Classroom, usually within 24 hours. You can watch it at your convenience.

  • STEM Academy modules have a max of 20 learners. Most sessions have 5-10 learners.

  • Tuition varies from module to module. Please refer to pricing under each module description. The tuition does include instruction, materials kit + shipping, ongoing access to resources, and access to our alumni network.

  • Partial scholarships are available but limited. To apply for financial assistance, please see the Scholarships page.

  • In certain instances, a family discount may be available. Each STEM explorer receives a materials kit, usually unsuitable for sharing materials with a sibling. Please email stem@vasfa.org to discuss further.

  • Discounts are available for after-school, scouting, or other formal groups. Please email stem@vasfa.org for more information.

  • Yes. To set up a payment plan, you must reach out to VASFA staff before registering your camper. You must also have your Jumbula registration account set up prior to camp registration. All payment plans require an initial deposit at the time of registration.

We utilize the Jumbula platform for Space Adventure Camp and STEM Academy registration. It is best to create an account before registration opens. If you need assistance creating an account, there are detailed instructions available.
