Mission Success: Celebrating the 25th Space Adventure Camp Season!

We are thrilled to share the incredible success of this year's Space Adventure Camp! A record-breaking 216 campers from 21 states embarked on a cosmic journey of learning and exploration. From stargazing to model rocket launches, a special visit from the First Lady of Virginia and the Governor to behind-the-scenes tours of NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility and Rocket Lab, standing on launchpads to viewing the final Antares launch, the campers experienced the wonders of the universe firsthand.

What truly warms our hearts is that 35 aspiring explorers were awarded scholarships to attend camp this summer, ensuring a diverse range of talents could join us. This wouldn’t have been possible without the Bahethi Family Foundation and other generous donors. Campers were filled with curiosity and a desire to explore space this summer, creating a community that welcomed endless possibilities.

Advanced Aerospace Campers (week 5) were surprised by special guests at their graduation ceremony: the First Lady of Virginia and the Governor of Virginia, the Youngkins. They visited to present VASFA with the Spirit of Virginia Award, fully participated in the camper’s graduation ceremony, and spent extra time with our campers afterward.

For what might be a first in 25 years, our Advanced Coding & Robotics Campers (week 6) experienced the Antares launch from only 2 miles away, the largest rocket from Wallops, carrying supplies to the International Space Station. This was the final launch of the Antares 230+ from Wallops. Our campers were astonished by the power and beauty of a launch.

As we reflect on this remarkable summer camp season, remember that the cosmos is within reach for all who dare to dream. Join our efforts to inspire the next generation to reach for the stars. Please consider making a donation today to inspire tomorrow’s STEM leaders.
